Alex Fronduto, DHS, M.Ed.

Alex Fronduto, DHS, M.Ed. is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Northeastern University, where he serves in multiple leadership roles supporting enrollment strategy, student engagement, and academic program development. He currently leads the M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration program and has held senior roles focused on enrollment growth, marketing strategy, faculty development, and large-scale student engagement initiatives across Northeastern’s global campuses. He also chairs dissertations in the Doctor of Education (EdD) program.

Alex brings more than a decade of experience spanning enrollment management, admissions leadership, faculty supervision, and academic program design. Before his faculty career, he served in progressively senior admissions leadership roles at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, overseeing recruitment strategy, event operations, data-driven enrollment initiatives, and large, multi-campus visit programs.

Dr. Fronduto’s research interests include strategic enrollment management, supervision practices in higher education and the integration of experiential learning in online graduate coursework. He has presented nationally and regionally at conferences hosted by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), and the Conference on Higher Education Pedagogy. His scholarship has been published in College & University and Strategic Enrollment Management Quarterly.

He serves as the host of AACRAO Admit It podcast, where he explores emerging issues in enrollment management and higher education leadership and is on the Editorial Board for the College & University Journal.

Alex is the founder of the Higher Education Networking Collective, a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to breaking down silos across institutions and fostering interinstitutional collaboration and connection.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Premedical and Health Studies and a Doctorate in Health Sciences from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, as well as a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University.

Luke David Schultheis, Ph.D.

Luke D. Schultheis, Ph.D., has been teaching in higher education doctoral programs for 6 years and is President of EDvancement, LLC, an enrollment management consultancy. He has been a leader in higher education for over 30 years, with a primary focus on expanding access and improving student retention. He has served as a faculty member, chair, and dean, as well as
a senior administrator leading enrollment and student success initiatives. His leadership roles have spanned Emerson College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Michigan State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he guided comprehensive efforts in admissions, financial aid, academic advising, and retention strategies.

In addition to his campus-based leadership, Dr. Schultheis has provided national guidance on enrollment and student success. He has consulted numerous universities on reorganization and enrollment management issues. Through the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities
(APLU), he has mentored institutions on financial aid strategies and retention practices. He was also elected Vice President for Admissions and Enrollment Management on the Board of Directors for AACRAO, where he shaped policy and practice for the field. His scholarly contributions include numerous book chapters and journal articles, nearly 100 presentations at national conferences, and service on editorial review boards and dissertation committees.

Dr. Schultheis earned his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Nebraska, a Master of Education and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from Columbia University, a Master of Science in Asset Management from New York University, a Bachelor of Science in English: Poetry from the City University of New York Baccalaureate
Program, and an Associate of Science from Johnson & Wales University.

Don Hossler, Ph.D.

Don Hossler, Ph.D., one of the authors for the first edition of Handbook for Strategic Enrollment Management,  is a Senior Scholar at the Center for Enrollment Research, Policy, and Practice in the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California.

Hossler holds the rank of Distinguished Provost Professor Emeritus in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. He has also served in several leadership roles, including the vice chancellor for student enrollment services on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. He is the founding executive director of the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center. Hossler’s areas of specialization include college choice, student persistence, student financial aid policy, and enrollment management.

Hossler has authored or co-authored 23 books and scholarly reports, including more than 100 articles and book chapters. His research program has attracted support from organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Lumina Foundation for Education, Spencer Foundation, and the College Board. He has consulted with more than 50 colleges, universities, and educational organizations, including the College Board, Educational Testing Services, the Pew Charitable Trusts, the State of Maryland, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office. He has lived in Russia, where he conducted research in postsecondary education.

Hossler has received career achievement awards from the American College Personnel Association, the Association for Institutional Research, the College Board, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. In 2015, he was named a Provost Professor and received the Sonneborn Award for Outstanding Research and Teaching from Indiana University Bloomington. This is the highest award the Bloomington campus awards to its faculty members for a distinguished career of research and teaching.
